The Scandinavian Style Set

For many of us, the Summer Solstice is just another note in the calendar. Some may even take a trip to Stone Henge to celebrate the annual festivities. For Scandinavians, however, the Summer Solstice, also known as Midsummer, is quite the event. Dancing around maypoles adorned with fresh foliage, pretty flower wreaths worn on the head like halos, feasts of pickled herring and new potatoes washed down with a healthy helping of cold beer and spirits including the very popular, Aquavit – there’s nothing quite like it.

To celebrate the upcoming merriment, we selected our favourite ambassadors of true Scandinavian style; scroll through the gallery above for a look at our edit. Find out how to get their look below.

1. Swedish fashion blogger, Elin Kling, knows just how to make casual-yet-cool style look effortless. Her nonchalantly tucked-in striped shirt with skinny jeans is laid-back perfect. Add Ray-Ban Aviators and strappy heels for extra kudos.

2. Looking girlie but not too saccharine can be difficult; Carolina Engman of fashion blog, Fashion Squad, is a pioneer at adding edge to her ensembles. To work Carolina’s look, pair your pretty blouse with a leather skirt and look-at-me heels.

3. With a glossy chestnut mane and ice-blue eyes, Princess Madeleine of Sweden is instantly recognisable the world over. The stylish royal also knows how to radiate elegance without looking over-done; wearing a blazer is a sure-fire way to add sophistication to a look. We love the perfectly-chosen statement necklace too.

4. Noomi Rapace’s style is just as edgy off-screen as it is on-screen. A fan of looking sleek and minimalist, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star is a dab hand at rocking top-to-toe black without heading for overkill. Our top tip: if you’re outfit is all-black, keep your make-up toned down.

5. Actor, Alexander Skarsgård, is always impeccably polished without looking too formal. Here, his tonal get-up is aptly accompanied by a statement watch and an on-trend side parting. For added cool, go for suede shoes for a more relaxed aesthetic.

6. Norwegian-born fashion blogger, Hanneli Mustaparta, is a true style maven. When she’s not writing about fashion, she’s turning heads at Fashion Week. She mixes low-key femininity with statement pieces, and always looks contemporary. We adore how the blogger goes for neutral designs and then adds a colour-pop accessory.
