Domaine de la Vougeraie is a relatively new estate, creating its first vintage in 1999 after several vineyards were amalgamated by the Boisset family. Today, the winery sits between the Pinot Noir-dominated Côte de Nuits and the Chardonnay-led Côte de Beaune, meaning the label specialises in both. For its Clos de Thorey Monopole Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru, the Pinot Noir grapes are fermented with native yeasts before being aged in French oak for up to 18 months, which helps to give the blend its medium body and lively acidity.
