Struggling to keep up with fashion’s ever-changing trend cycle? Help is at hand – or, as it transpires, on foot. Spring/Summer 2025’s biggest shoe trends are all about versatility – so much so that you might already have a pair or two in your wardrobe. From the It-crowd’s favourite new loafer silhouette to the covetable wedges and trainers you won’t want to take off, these are the shoe trends that will instantly bring your wardrobe into the here and now.
High fashion’s sneaker obsession continues – and there’s a new silhouette in town. While gum-soled low-tops (think the ubiquitous adidas Samba) still top the fashion charts, SS25’s trendiest trainers are bouncier, sportier and – music to our ears – even more comfortable. Opt for a neutral-hued option by Toteme or The Row, or embrace retro stylings with a colourful or metallic pair courtesy of Miu Miu or Loewe.
As much a sign of the noughties revival as they are a beacon of 1970s boho, wedge sandals hit the shelves last year and are here to stay for 2025. Pioneered in Chemena Kamali’s debut Chloé collection – as worn on the front row by Sienna Miller and Georgia May Jagger – then at Alaïa, Saint Laurent and more, vertiginous platforms are as sturdy (read: easy to walk in) as they are stylish.
Fashion followers will know the Prada loafers – perhaps you already own the chunky pair that dominated the past few seasons. For Spring/Summer 2025, the key style (see Miu Miu) is a little lower to the ground. Structured shapes and elevated soles coexist with supple leather and slip-on silhouettes that you can truly wear all day, every day.
Divisive? Perhaps. Trending? Definitely. Mesh footwear is going nowhere this year. Strappy ballet flats are a key style – look to the likes of Alaïa and Le Monde Beryl – while Amina Muaddi and Jimmy Choo serve up mesh heels to translate the trend for more glamorous settings.
