In 1812, Chaumet was the first jeweller to open an atelier within Paris’ glittery Place Vendôme – a place now widely associated as the home of some of the world’s finest gemmologists and goldsmiths. At the epicentre of the square is the Vendôme column, an obelisk that’s wrapped in a spiralling frieze made from sculpted bronze plates – a monument which the Torsade de Chaumet collection honours.
