The Best Men’s Summer Fragrances for 2026

Words by Georgi Tinkov

The arrival of summer naturally requires a wardrobe gear change. We trade our knitwear for casual shirts, heavy trousers for linen shorts – so, why not do the same with fragrance? Whether infused with luscious citrus or marine freshness, these are the best men’s scents for summer in 2026.

Spotlight On

Creed

Creed’s first fragrance was a bespoke commission for King George III in 1781. Over the 245 summers since then, it’s safe to say that the Anglo-French perfumer has only perfected its craft. With notes of sweet and zesty Calabrian bergamot and tropical pineapple, Aventus yields lasting freshness associated with sun-soaked getaways. As a spicy alternative, Santal opens with pepper, coriander and ginger, before harmonising with its verdant body of geranium, cedar wood and oakmoss.

Fresh Citrus

It’s not accidental that escaping to the Mediterranean brings to mind the luscious freshness of citrus. Grown under the warming sub-tropical sun, Italian bergamot, lemon and bitter orange are just some of the invigorating notes distilled into these classic summertime fragrances. Acqua di Parma’s Bergamotto La Spugnatura Eau de Parfum is crafted using an ancient La Spugnatura technique, where the bergamot essence is extracted by hand from the citrus peel to preserve its vibrancy, while TOM FORD’s Neroli Portofino blends Tuscan neroli, Italian bergamot and Sicilian lemon to truly capture the vibrancy of Italy’s southern coast.

Acquatic and Marine

There are few sensations as soothing and meditative as breathing in the salty air of the seaside. Whether it’s natural iodine, algae and seaweeds, or the more mellow and aquatic calone molecule, master perfumers bottle the ocean in fragrance masterpieces. Dolce&Gabbana’s Light Blue Pour Homme intensifies the marine saltiness with the tartness of yellow mandarin. Armani’s classic Acqua Di Giò Parfum takes a different approach, using powerful incense notes to heighten the intensity of its refreshing marine scent.

Light Woods and Vetiver

Evoking being at one with nature, woody fragrances recall the verdant serenity of walking through a forest. For Zegna’s La Panoramica Eau de Parfum, it naturally leads to its home of Oasi Zegna, where the air is redolent with the freshness of pine needles and vetiver. Elsewhere, Jo Malone London looks to the world of myth for Cypress & Grapevine Cologne Intense. Perfumer Sophie Labbé takes inspiration from the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, building the scent around the resinous kick of vetiver and sweet warmth of grapevine.

Niche Summer Fragrances

There’s no set formula for a fragrance, and that’s perhaps what’s most exciting about fragrance today. World-class perfumers go off the beaten path to create truly niche scents, and you can learn more about the craft behind them at Meet the Perfumers, our series of talks, masterclasses and exclusive launches this summer. In the meantime, we’d recommend the summery fragrances from Santa Maria Novella – tracing its origins to the year 1221 and the Dominican friars of the Medici Family – as well as the unique scent of Loewe’s tropically spicy Wild Coffee.
