Crowning Achievement: Inside the Authorised Rolex Service Centre at Harrods

A well-maintained mechanical watch can last a lifetime – and if you own a Rolex, its enduring quality can be enjoyed for generations to come. With expert care and meticulous maintenance, a Rolex can last many lifetimes, becoming a treasured heirloom whose value lies as much in its memories and stories as its superlative craftsmanship.
The state-of-the-art Authorised Rolex Service Centre at Harrods was created to safeguard that legacy, with a mandate of preserving, maintaining and guaranteeing timepieces. “Once we’ve finished our After-Sales service, they can be enjoyed across generations,” says watchmaking and service centre manager Saoud Abdul Majid, a Rolex-trained specialist and fourth-generation watchmaker.
Each member of the team meets Rolex’s strict excellence criteria. They see their roles as custodians: extending the life and stories of these iconic timepieces by combining technical mastery with care and respect. “What really sets us apart isn’t just our ability, it’s the fact the standards of our watchmakers are so high,” says Majid. “We treat each watch as if it were our own, and we never forget that it’s a privilege to be part of its journey.”
Combining cutting-edge technology with traditional watchmaking expertise, the service centre operates to the same exacting standards as Rolex’s Swiss ateliers, using specialist equipment and time-honoured techniques to preserve and protect each timepiece. “It really is a state-of-the-art service centre,” says Harrods’ Rolex-trained Watchmaker Sophie Krienbühl. Beyond the challenge of repairing the intricate mechanics, it’s the human stories that resonate most. “I just know that each client has a story. Whether you’re 17 years old and buying your first Rolex, or 80 years old and restoring the watch that you have carried with you your entire life – we treat every watch with the same care and respect.”
