The Ultimate Guide to Harrods Wine
Words by Samantha Wellard
For Harrods, a glass of fine wine is never just a drink – it’s an experience to savour. Perhaps it’s a bold red enjoyed fireside or a chilled white poured at a summer table; whatever the occasion, our exclusive collection has been curated to suit every taste and occasion. To help you explore, we’ve created the ultimate guide – a journey from the valleys of France to the hills of New Zealand – showcasing the craftsmanship, character and stories behind Harrods’ very own wines.
Red Wines
A classic pairing for cheeseboards and roast game – and, may we add, chocolate – red wine is a cold-weather staple thanks to its rich, warming aromas and deep flavours.
Languedoc Rouge – Languedoc-Roussillon, France
On the nose, aromas of ripe red fruits mingle with spiced notes of black pepper and liquorice, lifted by subtle hints of Mediterranean thyme and rosemary.
Hailing from the sun-drenched vineyards of Languedoc-Roussillon – the world’s largest wine-producing region – this velvety red has been crafted exclusively for Harrods by renowned winemaker Gérard Bertrand. A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, it spends nine months in barrel to achieve an undeniable depth, making it the perfect partner for grilled meats, rich cheeses or simply a moment of quiet indulgence.

Pauillac – Bordeaux, France
This intense wine reveals layers of nutmeg and toasted spice wrapped around dark, ripe red fruits and earthy undertones.
Rounded and beautifully balanced, the Harrods Pauillac is Bordeaux in its truest expression. Produced by Maison Sichel from a specially selected parcel belonging to one of Pauillac’s most revered First Growth châteaux, it blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot into a wine of true distinction. Thanks to the art of malolactic conversion – where malolactic acids is transformed into softer lactic acid – its smooth, creamy mouthfeel softens the acidity, leaving a refined finish that lingers long after the last sip.

Barolo – Piedmont, Italy
A palate of pomegranate and red cherry is underpinned by hints of minerals, while the nose brims with wild strawberries, morello cherries and spices.
For this Barolo, fine wine starts from the soil up. Nebbiolo grapes are grown on sloping hills in a clay-limestone soil, alternated with firm layers of sandstone, quartz sands and fine silt. This leaves the wine with a balanced but rich structure, thanks to its fine-grained tannins, and a layered bouquet. The result is a wine destined for the Italian table: pair with handmade ravioli, goat’s cheese or slow-braised meats.

Cabernet Sauvignon – Paso Robles, California, USA
While bramble fruits and herbs are the first things to greet your nose, aromas of violet and plum soon break through and a full-bodied palate offers a long finish.
Created for Harrods by the Daou family, this Cabernet Sauvignon proves that Paso Robles can rival the world's most-respected appellations; after all, its mountainous terroir is known as 'a jewel of ecological elements’. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah, it spends 18 months in 50% new French oak, drawing out a deep, concentrated flavour profile. Bold yet refined, it’s the ultimate pairing for roast beef and other hearty dishes.

White Wines
From crisp and citrussy to creamy and buttery, white wines cover a veritable spectrum of flavours, making them versatile to pair with everything from poultry and white fish to foie gras and oysters.
Sancerre – Loire Valley, France
Characteristic of the variety, this wine grips the palate with citrus before opening to hints of minerals and green fruit.
While Sauvignon Blanc is the solo star of this Sancerre, its grapes hail from two different vineyard sites. Artisanal producer Aurore Dezat uses fruit grown in chalky clay soils to give the wine a power and concentration, while grapes picked from small limestone caillottes bring signature citrus brightness. We recommend pairing with a local cheese, like Cirottin de Chavgnol, but it suits seafood just as well.

Pouilly-Fuisse – Burgundy, France
Creamy on the palate, expect nuances of butterscotch, toasted almond and honey woven with citrus and floral notes.
Winemaker Vigneron Florent Rouve is known for its rich, textured blends, using older vines to add character to every bottle. The Chardonnay grapes it uses to make Harrods Pouilly-Fuisse spend six-eight months in 10% new wood barrels, for a rich creaminess that pairs beautifully with equally creamy dishes like risotto and the locally made cheese, Chevreton de Mâconnais.

Sauvignon Blanc – Marlborough, New Zealand
Intense aromas of citrus and passion fruit greet the nose, while lime and grapefruit bring a mouth-wateringly tangy palate and a lively finish.
For small, family-owned wine producer Nautilus, the winemaking mastery starts from the very first pick. Sauvignon Blanc grapes are harvested at night or in the cool of the morning before being immediately crushed and fermented with aromatic yeast strains to preserve a crisp flavour. The wine is then kept on the lees for three months to ensure a distinct creaminess that complements everything from salads to fish tacos.

Pinot Grigio – Garda, Italy
A considered balance of acid and saline, this wine boasts a rich bouquet with fruity notes, for an elegant yet understated finish.
La Predina has a long history in Lombardy, dating back to the Gonzaga family in the 16th century. It continues to create wines with minimal interference to truly harness the natural characteristics of each grape, like the Pinot Grigio used in this Harrods-exclusive blend. Once picked, the grapes undergo extended fermentation to develop a rich aroma and rest on the lees for added complexity.

Blanc de Blancs Non-Vintage Champagne – Champagne, France
Rich and generous on the nose, this Champagne has an elegant, lengthy palate and a defined structure.
As expected from a Blanc de Blancs, Laurent Hostomme opts to make this Harrods Champagne from 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay, giving the blend its golden yellow hue.
