Chanel Make-Up
Having taken the fashion scene by storm in the 1910s, Gabrielle Chanel decided to spend the following decade tackling another key element of a woman’s arsenal: make-up. The designer’s love of a rouge lipstick made her a natural muse for the line, informing the creation of products she felt were missing from her own collection. Following the launch of the CHANEL N°5 eau de parfum, the cosmetics range debuted in 1924 with a selection of creamy lipsticks and powders that remain bestsellers for the maison over a century later. Alongside these timeless items are CHANEL foundations – including the sensitive-skin-friendly Les Beiges formula – mascaras and eye make-up sets, the latter of which is best applied with one of the label’s ultra-soft make-up brushes.
