The Best Swimwear for 2025 Holidays (And How to Style It)

Words by Eleanor Hibberd and Sophia Miller

Swimwear is the bread and butter of holiday style – but it doesn’t stop at swimsuits and bikinis. Whether you’re bound for a day on the shore or a sunset pool party, cover-ups, sandals and beach accessories are the finishing touches that’ll level up your look into something snap-worthy. As for the best styling tips? These are the formulas that will serve you well, no matter when or where you’re vacationing.

Choose a Matching Cover-up

A day at the beach is as much about cover-ups as it is about swimwear. Vibrant colours and clashing prints from the likes of Sir. and Pucci look instantly at home against turquoise waters – the matchy-matchier, the better. Stock up on sarongs, pareos and kaftans, and be sure to carry a spacious basket bag that will keep everything safe when you’re down to your bikini.

Swimwear as Daywear

Odds are your typical holiday involves at least some variation from the sunlounger – and, for days spent sightseeing or lunching alfresco, a different approach to swimwear is required. Whatever the plan, water will never be too far away, so always travel prepared for a quick dip. More structured bikini tops and swimsuits can easily pass as crop tops or bodysuits with the right styling. Think loose-fitting layers like drawstring shorts and button-up shirts in lightweight cotton, silk or linen. Beachy jewellery and colourful sunglasses add the finishing touches.
