Loewe Puzzle Bag

LOEWE’s Puzzle bag was launched in 2014, making it the first new silhouette from the Spanish House since the 1980s. With its sharp lines and foldable, origami-inspired silhouette blurring the lines between masculine and feminine accessorising, it remains an It bag a decade later.

Launched at the start of his tenure as LOEWE’s creative director, the Puzzle bag is the brainchild of Northern Irish designer Jonathan Anderson. In its creation, he questioned structure and function to produce a piece that pays homage to the House’s leatherware heritage at every turn.

While the folded silhouette remains intact throughout every iteration, the Puzzle has gone through its own evolution since it was first introduced 11 years ago. The original bag features 75 separate leather panels, which results in a finish that’s dedicated to authentic craftsmanship with visible seams, while the newer Puzzle Edge bag achieves its structure through smoother single-stitching and overlapping panels.

The iconic cuboid silhouette of LOEWE’s Puzzle bag is created from calfskin leather, in another homage to the House’s leathercraft beginnings in 1846. Whether rendered in a classic hue, transformed through vibrant block colours or animated by an exclusive collaboration, each one showcases the leather’s fine grain and naturally soft feel.

Every LOEWE Puzzle bag is carefully handmade in Madrid, Spain, by the label’s dedicated artisans. Taking nine hours in total, each piece’s production process uses 500 actions of cutting, sewing and even hand-painting across the 75 pieces of leather.

There are four sizes to discover in the Puzzle bag family: Mini, Small, Classic Medium and Large. The Mini will house just the essentials like your cards and keys, and the Small will also hold your phone and make-up. Whether worn over the shoulder or cross-body, the Classic Medium is your daily go-to, while the Large is equipped for an iPad and your current read.
