MATIERE PREMIERE
Matière Première is named after the French term for ‘raw material’, curating its collections around a core natural ingredient used at its highest dosage. Founder and seventh-generation perfumer Aurélien Guichard focuses on highlighting the unique textures and most striking facets of each note to create a potent, layered sillage. The only fragrance virtuoso to grow his own ingredients, he distils flowers from Grasse, France into Radical Rose and French Flower to capture the redolence of the terroir. It’s not just local scents that are championed, either. Madagascan vanilla pods define the flagship Vanilla Powder extrait and its lighter eau de parfum, while Greek saffron pulsates through Crystal Saffron, Finnish birch tar reverberates in Falcon Leather, Omani incense warms Encens Suave and Australian sandalwood softens Santal Austral.
