4 of the Best Cocktail Bars in Harrods

Words by Henry Coldstream

In our books, there’s no right or wrong occasion for a cocktail. Sometimes a moment simply calls for one, be it a celebratory spritz, a pre-meal negroni or a late-night espresso martini. Although we’d never be one to dissuade you from mixing up your own concoctions at home (see below for our at-home mixology essentials), it is hard to beat the feeling of being sat in a bar, sipping on a cocktail and watching on as the experts do their thing. After all, an exceptional cocktail isn’t the same without an incredible setting to match.

Luckily, here at Harrods we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to places to enjoy a cocktail, with a variety of different bars and restaurants spread out across The Terracotta Palace waiting to serve you a memorable tipple. There’s also plenty on offer for non-drinkers, with all our bars offering an equally brilliant selection of non-alcoholic options. From a glitzy Lower Ground Floor hideaway with an inventive, often changing drinks menu to the glamour of The Georgian’s standalone bar, these are the spots you should be heading to next time you’re on the hunt for a cocktail in Knightsbridge.

The Grill on Fifth

Who can say no to a rooftop cocktail? The Grill on Fifth’s heated terrace has its very own bar, allowing you to enjoy the likes of a paloma or an espresso martini while looking out across Knightsbridge. That’s not to say that there aren’t also plenty of cosy nooks downstairs around the indoor bar – the ideal spot for a swift one before dinner.

Aside from the classics, there's also a selection of signature serves on The Grill on Fifth’s drinks menu, including the showgirl – a tropical mixture of tequila, lychee and grapefruit – and the spicy, rum-based trailblazer. Enjoy these alongside nibbles including oysters and short rib croquettes, before tucking into an exquisite steak.

Moët & Chandon Champagne Bar

Sit beneath a chandelier crafted from 64,000 gold disks while perusing an extensive menu of Champagne cocktails, rare cuvées and paired nibbles at the Ground Floor Moët & Champagne Bar. The iconic Champagne house’s only standalone bar in Europe is the ultimate way of bringing a touch of sparkle to your day, whether that’s with a quick glass of something after an afternoon spent browsing the Beauty Halls or an evening of catching up over cocktails.

Indulge in a Champagne Picante for an elevated twist on a spicy margarita made using Moët’s flagship Brut Impérial, opt for decadence with a Milk & Honey featuring Hennessy X.O and clarified milk, or why not try the alcohol-free Strawberry Myrtle? The decision is yours.
