Jaeger-LeCoultre watch

Jaeger-LeCoultre Watches

Jaeger-LeCoultre brings craftsmanship, artistry and imagination to life. The first Jaeger-LeCoultre workshop was founded by Antoine LeCoultre in 1833, but it was over 30 years of collaboration between the LeCoultre family and French watchmaker Edmond Jaeger that led to the official launch of Jaeger-LeCoultre in 1937. Still based in Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux, the pioneering brand has gone on to design and develop over 1000 different movements and counts more than 400 registered patents to its name. From its founder’s invention of the Millionmetre – the most precise measuring tool of its time – in 1844, to the creation of the Calibre 101, which weighs just one gram and was worn by Queen Elizabeth II for her coronation, every element of a Jaeger-LeCoultre watch’s mechanism continues to be created entirely in-house.

    One Eye on the Future

Out of its home in the heart of Vallée de Joux, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Manufacturer has conceived over 1200 calibres since 1833. From its seminal Millionmetre in 1844 – the first instrument capable of measuring the micron – to the petite Calibre 101, worn by Queen Elizabeth II for her coronation and the smallest mechanical movement in the world; it has redefined the landscape of fine watchmaking.

    The Reverso

Revered for more than eight decades, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Reverso is the jewel in the crown of any horology collection. Its pivoting case – designed in 1931 to withstand the polo games of British officers stationed in India – was masterminded by René-Alfred Chauvot, while Jacques-David LeCoultre undertook the movement itself. Sports player or not, you’ll be hard pressed to resist its myriad charms.

Hand-decorated calibres, intricate skeletonizing, and the precise placement of rubies to reduce friction and aid lubrication; the eye doesn’t see the full scale of craftsmanship behind a Jaeger-LeCoultre timepiece, from Polaris to Atmos. And it doesn’t end there: snow-setting, a process invented by the Manufacture’s master jewellers, sees gems placed by hand in patterns that invoke nature’s magic.
