The Harrods Safe Deposit department dates back to 1896 and is the oldest and least-seen part of the store. Behind the Victorian three-ton steel entrance door lies first-class security surveillance equipment, including electric gates, solid steel walls and alarms. You’ll decide your own personal password, which is known only by Harrods Safe Deposit personnel, and you will have your own unique key.
Importantly, the Harrods Safe Deposit guarantees the utmost confidentiality.

The following documents will need to be presented at your Enquiry Appointment. Please note: all documents must be original and photocopies will not be accepted.
Original proof of identity - a valid passport (with a UK Visa or Residence Permit, if applicable)
Original proof of your current residential address, dated within the last 3 months - bank statement or a utility bill (water, gas, electricity). Telephone, broadband, and council tax bills are not accepted.
If you are unable to provide hard copies of your documents, we will accept a PDF statement from your financial institution or utility company, which we will print during your application appointment. We do not accept PDF statements from Overseas Customers.
If your primary residence is outside of the United Kingdom, we require an original hard copy of your proof of address and a certified bank statement stamped by your financial institution.
The application process will take five working days. During this time, we may contact you for further documentation.
We are unable to offer any insurance for the contents of your safe. Please consult an insurance provider independently.
There is only one unique key for each box, which remains in the customer’s possession and must be returned to our team at the end of the agreement. If your application is approved, you will be charged a refundable deposit of £200 for your key at the start of your agreement.

All applications must be made in person at the Safe Deposit, located on the Ground Floor. A paper application will need to be completed in person. When applying you will be required to provide a valid proof of ID and a valid proof of address no older than three months. Once the application has been completed, and ID and address verification has been provided, the application will then be submitted for approval. The approval process can take up to five working days.
To apply for a Safe Deposit box you must provide photographic identification such as a current valid passport and visa/ residence permit if applicable. In addition, Proof of address which confirms the applicant’s name and address such as a utility bill, a bank or credit-card statement, or a landline telephone bill. All documents must be original documents (online documents are not valid proof of address) and must be less than three months old on the date of application.
All new Safe Deposit boxes are subject to a refundable key deposit of £200, which will be refunded upon surrender of the box and return of the original key. The cost of the service will depend upon the size of the Safe Deposit box you hold with us.
