When Christian Dior presented his ‘New Look’ in 1947, he changed the face of women’s fashion forever. Kim Jones’ Dior Spring/Summer 2024 for men is a culmination of the designer’s reverence for other artisans and their time at the House – namely Yves Saint Laurent, Gianfranco Ferré and Marc Bohan. The threads of the Maison’s history are woven together through the recurring theme of the Dior Cannage, which could be spotted on almost every runway look. Tweed, bouclé and embellishments play host to designs that honour Jones’ fifth year at Dior.
Lady Dior – arguably Dior’s most iconic accessory – is a symbol of the Maison’s heritage. Decorated with a cannage motif that was first inspired by two antique chairs found at the Parisian atelier, it made its debut upon the arm of Lady Diana Spencer, only serving to heighten its appeal. Its boxy, feminine aesthetic is reinvented year after year, appearing in a number of shapes, sizes, colours and ever-exceptional fabrications.
