Beauty Routines and Rituals to Try This Spring

Words by Jennifer George

Now we’re well clear of winter and its hibernation-inducing ways, it’s time to embrace some sunshine and – if it takes your fancy – some new beauty routines, all inspired by our annual Beauty Gift, which is back for another year and packed with many gorgeous goodies you'll need for the months ahead.

Read on for glow-enhancing rituals, speedy skin enhancements and hero products for healthy hair. Settle in and take note – it’s time to get re-inspired.

A Head to Toe Glow

Prioritise sprucing up your skin over spring cleaning the house with this top-to-toe glow-up routine. Starting as every good skin regimen does – with an excellent cleanser – Tata Harper's Regenerating formula combines chemical and physical exfoliation (using apricot microspheres) to gently but effectively scrub your skin smooth, ready for the skincare to follow. 111 Skin's Repair Serum is healing and regenerating, packed with actives to fight signs of ageing, and the clue’s in the name with Dr Barbara Sturm's Glow Drops which nourish, hydrate and add radiance via healthy mineral pigments.

The final facial skincare step, as it always should be (in the morning, at least) is SPF. But think we forgot moisturiser first? Not with the Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF 30 by Elemis which packs in moisture and provides sun protection in one ultra-light gel cream. After that, unless you must, let your renewed skin do the talking and ditch the make-up coverage, save a quick flush of NARS blush to add a wash of colour. Finish with a delicious, tropical-tinged layer of hydration across the whole body care of Sol de Janeiro's Beija Flor Elasti-Cream and a spritz of Escentric 05 by Escentric Molecules a fresh, fig, citrus and freesia packed scent perfect for sunny spring days.

Groomed and Glamorous, Every Day

Looking polished doesn’t have to be a palava these seven steps will have you looking and feeling brand new in a matter of minutes. After washing your hair and simply applying Olaplex's No.6 Bond Smoother for wash-and-go, frizz-reducing ease (we did say a matter of minutes, after all..) start with freshly cleansed skin then layer on some complexion-enhancing formulas in the form of Good Genes by Sunday Riley which will help to purify and revitalise and Orveda's Vital Sap to help even out texture and tone, with extra moisture to leave the skin happy and hydrated coming courtesy of Shiseido's Vital Perfection Uplifting and Firming Advanced Cream.

Keep your finish fresh and foundation-free, relying on the Everlast Primer by Dolce & Gabbana to give an airbrushed look, simply swiping on some jet-black Hourglass mascara and instantly grooming Brow Freeze Gel by Anastasia Beverly Hills for a clean and timeless aesthetic.

Staying In and Self-Caring

Consider this routine your excuse to embrace the joy of missing out and indulge in a night of beauty-based self-care. Make time for masking with the Cleanse and Clarify Dual Action AHA Cleanser and Mask from MZ Skin, which harnesses AHAs and papaya enzymes to gently exfoliate and refine the skin in just ten minutes. To follow, layer on some luxury with the Precious Gold Vitality Serum by Cle de Peau, a silky serum enriched with potent antioxidants and a gentle-to-skin retinol, then choose your fighter when it comes to intense hydration, healing and anti-ageing properties: either the regenerating overnight mask from EviDenS de Beauté or cell-renewing Rich Cream by Augustinus Bader. Give the rest of your skin some attention with a generous layer of body balm by MyBlend and why not spritz on some French Leather EDP by Memo Paris just because you’re staying in it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t smell wonderful.

Looking after Your Locks

Soaking up some sunshine and topping up your vitamin D intake is all well and good, and we’re all now very savvy about wearing SPF. However we often forget our hair, which can get dried out by the heat. Give it a little attention with some seriously hydrating products, like Philip Kingsley's Elasticizer Deep Conditioning Treatment, a hero formula for healing harmed hair. Keeping it happy and healthy wash and wash is easy when using Rahua's Classic Shampoo and Classic Conditioner, both boosted with omega-rich Rahua oil that fortifies damaged strands, and if you need a little extra something you can always rely on the gorgeous Honey Infused Hair Oil by Gisou a multi-use product that can be applied to nourish and smooth hair as a mask, overnight, pre-styling or to finish a look. Speaking of finishing a look, if you want to look super-sleek why not book into Drybar for the big, bouncy blowdry of your dreams.
