The Best Swimwear Trends for 2026 Holidays (and How to Style Them)

Words by Sophia Miller

Sometimes, all you want to reach for is a simple black triangle bikini. Or a no-frills swimsuit that fits just right. But there’s also a holiday alter ego in all of us – one that feels inspired to experiment with trends you wouldn’t otherwise dip your toe into. This summer, the most stylish beach-goers are embracing vintage-inspired maximalism, with a return to bold print, colour and hardware. And don’t forget the beachwear to match – sarongs, pareos and matching cover-ups are all also essential additions to your luggage. Keep reading for our download of the five swimwear trends to try this summer – and, most importantly, how to style them.

Hero Hardware

You already know how good warm-toned jewellery looks in the sun – so why not extend that logic to your swimwear wardrobe? Away That Day, Zimmermann, Simkhai and Hunza G are just some of the brands offering bikinis and swimsuits with metal detailing this season, whether that’s utility-style eyelets or on-theme shell clasps. These suits do most of the accessorising for you, but you might want to dial up the look even further with beachy beads, embellished sandals and basket bags that feature the same aquatic emblems.

The Tiny Triangle

Next up: the itsy-bitsy triangle bikini. Its barely there shape harks back to ’90s and ’00s minimalism – and although it’s never really disappeared from our packing lists, this year sees it return with added colour, print and embellishment. Loewe x Paula’s Ibiza’s abstract Anagrams, Sir’s tonal stripes and Maygel Coronel’s floral corsages offer plenty of opportunities when it comes to styling – stick to one palette and embrace texture with raffia bags and crochet cover-ups for the full cool-girl poolside look.

Maximalist Mood

Wallflowers, look away now: this next 2026 swimwear trend is all about embracing a more-is-more mantra. Missoni and Pucci are the obvious frontrunners here, having been leading the colourful resortwear drive for decades, but Taller Marmo and La DoubleJ are hot on their heels with fringed pareos and a colour palette that makes you glad you remembered your sunglasses. Beaded accessories, oversized earrings and pool-party heels optional (but very much encouraged).

The Multipurpose One-Piece

Next on the packing list is a piece that satisfies both form and function: the does-it-all swimsuit. Less of a trend and more of a styling tip, the best one-pieces look just as good in an outfit as they do in the water – and save you valuable suitcase space by doubling up as a top. As for the vibe, let your personality guide you – Eres offers simple silhouettes in a colour palette that always hits the mark, and Burberry x Hunza G is the collection everyone is talking about this year. Meanwhile, a little sculptural sheen from Zimmermann is ideal for the holiday equivalent of day-to-night dressing.

Return of the Sarong

The sarong – and its Tahitian cousin, the pareo – is well and truly back for summer 2026. Their floaty shape and often colourful block prints mean they lend themselves well to more casual beachside looks – think flat sandals and oversized basket bags – but fashion editors have also been seen styling theirs as a skirt for the daytime. Just be sure to pack a few safety pins.
