Its Blue Onion pattern – which received its name because melons were mistaken for onions in 18th-century Europe – dates back to the 1730s, when the now-iconic cobalt blue paint was used by highly skilled artisans to create the intricate motif. Here, it is reimagined with small crossed swords in the bamboo trunk, serving as the brand’s signature sign-off.
