Struggling to keep up with fashion’s ever-changing trend cycle? Help is at hand – or, as it transpires, on foot. Autumn/Winter 2025’s biggest shoe trends are all about versatility – so much so that you might already have a pair or two in your rotation. From the It-crowd’s favourite new neutral (spoiler: it’s not black or beige) to the knee-high boots and loafers made for cooler weather, these are the footwear heroes that will instantly bring your wardrobe into the here and now.
This season, it’s a jungle where print is concerned. Appearing on the AW25 runways at Saint Laurent, Fendi, Khaite and more, animal motifs (in all forms) have quickly filtered down to footwear – and what better way to dip your toe into the trend? If there’s one shoe that works hard during the autumn season, it’s a knee-high boot. While chunky, buckle-laden bikers of last year are still enjoying their moment – courtesy of Chloé and Ganni among others – a sleeker silhouette is also vying for attention. Ferragamo and Valentino Garavani’s flat riding boots present heritage-leaning options, while Brunello Cucinelli and TOM FORD offer elegance via stiletto heels.
If you’re dedicated to your practical flats, you’ll be pleased to know that loafers remain a key footwear staple for AW25. The classic shape – and its collegiate variant, the brogue – was seen at Miu Miu, Prada and Givenchy, in an ode to buttoned-up prep. Follow Miuccia’s lead and style yours with a pair of statement socks for a look that’s pure St. Trinian’s-core.
You’ll have heard a lot about red as the biggest colour trend of 2025 – but right there with it has to be brown. Softer than black, hot-chocolate hues are already the new neutrals taking over your shoe collection, from pointed-toe pumps to butter-soft leather ballet flats and suede ankle boots. Props to Jimmy Choo for its ombré moment, neatly covering both sides of the spectrum.
