5 Victoria Beckham Beauty Buys Our Editor Loves

Words by Olivia de Courcy

I am yet to meet a fellow beauty editor, make-up artist or creator who hasn’t fallen head-over-heels for Victoria Beckham’s eponymous beauty line. It’s a grand statement, but having test-driven a large portion of the range, I can confirm I’m right there with them. At a time in beauty where constant newness can leave one feeling slightly overwhelmed with choice, what we need are products that work. Mascaras that lift and define but don’t smudge or flake, contours that create a shadow without streakiness, and lip glosses for where uncomfortable stickiness is a thing of the past. Victoria Beckham’s line was created with exactly those things in mind. Posh Spice has spoken at length about the levels of perfection she has held the product development team to, which is testament to her dedication to creating products with real people in mind. They are not for show, they are easy to use and their effects last beyond the hour they’re applied.

My overall take on Victoria Beckham Beauty? This is not any celebrity beauty brand, this is a core beauty industry player for great, hardworking, quality make-up (and fragrance and skincare). Here are five of my favourites.

Satin Kajal Liners

The bestsellers in the collection are the Satin Kajal Eyeliners and – I do not say this lightly – they might be my favourite formula on the market. They glide on in the smoothest way (which can mean sometimes a little too much is applied, so go steady) and the sponge tip on the other end blends to just the right amount of ‘lived-in’. Victoria’s favourite shades are Cocoa, a deep brown, and Cinnamon, a dark bronze with a very slight shimmer. I’ve taken to using both: Cocoa to tightline in between my lashes and Cinnamon for a subtle hint of colour.

Baby Blade and Feather Light Brows

Precision takes centre stage with Beckham’s BabyBlade brow pencil. The twist-up khol-like pencil is ultra fine so each hair can be drawn into place without a blocky brow in sight. I like to draw in gaps around the arch of my brow and then use the built-in spoolie to slightly blend the colour in with my natural brows. This was one of the most-recommended products to me before trying, and I can see why.

After shaping and defining with BabyBlade, I will always set with a brow gel. FeatherFix brow gel is not only a holder, it’s good for your brow hair health too, formulated with vitamin b7, known to improve thickness, and provitamin B5 for reinforcement. Even though I’m blonde, the medium brunette buys me a a little longer between tints. If it’s just the fix you want, go for the the clear formula.

Contour Stick

On the ultra-precise, ultra-usable USP that shines through Victoria Beckham’s entire beauty collection, the Contour Stick has to be one of the most innovative. It’s the smallest I’ve tried, to really get into the hollows and areas that you’ll want to craft that definition – such as under the jawline, just below cheekbones, and on the sides of the nose if you wish. Remember that contour is for the hollows, and bronzer is for the high points. I love a bronze look 365 days of the year, so I’ll always follow with a sweep of Bronzing Brick in shade 2 for a little extra (natural) colour.

Posh Gloss

Posh Lip Gloss got me back into wearing lip gloss. I was forever putting a balm over a lipstick to get that ultra-high shine finish and it turns out Posh Gloss was what I was missing. The pigments are brilliant, giving a full colour wash, and the formula is hydrating but – crucially – not sticky. My go-tos for a subtle lip tint are Bungalow and Fizz (pictured), but to be quite honest, I’d wear them all. And bonus, the doe foot applicator is just the right size, so I can apply on the go without the need of a mirror.

Vast Lash Mascara

There are a couple of mascaras in the Victoria Beckham Beauty line-up and personally I like thicker, more volumized lashes, so Vast Lash Mascara is my top pick. Those who prefer a more natural, tinted but curled look will love Future Lash Mascara. Vast Lash does take a couple of coats to build the volume – but when it does, the results are so worth it. In Victoria’s own words about Vast Lash: “The look is not polite, it’s major! When I was testing Vast Lash Mascara, people quite often thought I was wearing eyelash extensions.”
