Beginning with the influential Cartier Santos, Cartier watches expanded the Maison’s horizons from jewellery to horology. Men’s Cartier watches are led by the Cartier Tank – created by Louis Cartier to be the signature masculine silhouette of its time. Despite its origins, the Cartier timepiece has today proved equally coveted in the line-up of Cartier women’s watches through gold and two-tone designs that boast high-jewellery appeal. The Cartier Panthère is another watch to cross this boundary, originating as a women’s timepiece. Its flexible bracelet – inspired by a panther’s movement – and screw-set bezel became an iconic silhouette across gender lines, and, alongside the Ballon Bleu de Cartier, frequently features in the brand’s diamond watch collection.
