The Best Swimwear for 2025 Holidays (And How to Style It)

Words by Eleanor Hibberd and Sophia Miller

Swimwear is the bread and butter of summer holiday style – but it doesn’t stop at swimsuits and bikinis. Whether you’re bound for a day at the beach or a sunset pool party, cover-ups, sandals and beach accessories are the finishing touches that’ll level up your look into something snap-worthy. As for the best styling tips? These are the formulas that will serve you well no matter where you’re vacationing.

Choose a Matching Cover-up

A day at the beach is as much about cover-ups as it is about swimwear. Vibrant colours and clashing prints from the likes of Mary Katrantzou, La DoubleJ and Pucci look instantly at home against turquoise waters – the matchy-matchier, the better. Stock up on sarongs, pareos and kaftans, and be sure to carry a spacious basket bag that will keep it all safe when you’re down to your bikini.

Swimwear as Daywear

Odds are your typical holiday involves at least some variation from the sunlounger – and, for days spent sightseeing or lunching alfresco, a different approach to swimwear is required. Whatever the plan, water will never be too far away, so always travel prepared for a quick dip. Loose-fitting layers like crochet skirts, drawstring shorts and button-up shirts wear well over swimwear, without looking too beachy – and light materials like cotton, silk and linen promise to dry quickly over a wet bikini if you do take the plunge.
