“When it comes to party-ready glam, I think people sometimes think they have to throw everything and the kitchen skin at their face,” says Ellie Simlett, MAC national artist UK & Ireland. She has a point. So often we go into panic mode pre-party, experimenting with a multi-step eye look or getting heavy handed with the bronzer – cue a last minute search for make-up remover and a result that you don’t love. Take heed then, as Simlett suggests that less can be best: “You can create something just as affective but elevating your lip or eye, with some sparkle or depth or colour.” You don't need to ignore your own make-up bag either. “Products that you can layer on top of your regular routine are going to be your best friend,” says Simlett. “Just think of your glam as elevated, but not a different, OTT version of yourself.”
